This is another book that once you started reading you could not put it down. Some of it was a bit far-fetched but I still liked it... Reviewer

This is a wonderful read. There is a lot of information that is skillfully woven into the plot. It isn't something you'd expect, and the surprises are many. The content is definitely intriguing and thought-provoking. Great settings and counterpoints...Reviewer

The Master Elaine Waldron 9781466304796 Books Reviews

I did not like this book at all. It was very boring and I did not finish the book. I'm glad I didn't pay a big price for it.
This book brings Jesus to life as a child and continues his journey throughout his amazing life. It holds your attention from the beginning, and is very well written. I would recommend this book (as I have already) to anyone who is old enough to understand who Jesus really is.
What I thought it was going to be about. Not to mention it's ridiculous!!!!! I got about 40% in & just couldn't go any further.

It was in the wrong grouping of books.
This is different out come.love it ! Want to read more of your books. Love the out come
Of book.
First and foremost, the premise of Waldron's The Master was the reason why I gave the read a go. It is religion-heavy, so those who want to give this tale a spin are advised of the Christian and pagan undertones and lore. The concept of this book was enough to keep me hooked until the one-shot end. It's interesting because the surprising factor of The Master is the hook; not quite as refreshing, but welcomed all the same.

Where Waldron shined the brightest was at the latter end of the book chapters fifteen to the end. This is where my attention was the strongest. When I read, I visualize the scenes in my head like a movie; these chapters achieved this.

Alas, what I stated above are the only good points about this book. Now for the reasons why I rated this book two stars. Bear with me, it's a little long.

The flow of the story is choppy enough to fling you into each chapter without remorse. Some paragraphs in each chapter had run-on transitions; Waldron didn't leave any obvious indication that a transition occurred. This problem threw me off a few times, and kept me from fully engaging with the book. It's like having small episodes of blacking out while watching a movie. It leaves you picking up pieces that you shouldn't have to pick up.

The characters in The Master are so-so. The main characters--Jenny, David, and The Master--are fleshed out enough to carry the story, but not enough to be believable. Sometimes their mannerisms were inconsistent; for instance, at one point I thought Jenny was two people one person introverted and caring, and the other person bold and ignorant. I finally got an idea of who she was at the latter end of the book.

David and the supporting characters--his parents, Jenny's mom, his co-worker, The Master's staff--were promising, but fell flatter than a hot Coke forgotten in the summer heat. Their reactions were odd and unbelievable until the last five chapters of the book. Some of the characters almost seem like throw-away extras; it bugged me that their existence sounded like a passing thought. The Master was the only character that, although a tad inconsistent, didn't bother me as much.

Another reason why this book has a two star rating is the lack of editing. I knew that I had a fifty-fifty chance of reading a poorly polished piece. Sometimes free isn't the best thing. I took the bullet because the story's concept hooked me. Nevertheless, there were a few times where the grammar and spelling errors were so bad, I thought of closing the book and deleting it from my . I decided not to.

As I stated before, the last five or six chapters are where Waldron shined. They were a bit rocky though. The ending could've been fuller; a bit rushed but not too bad. To each one's own.

So if you're an advocate of quality in a book, skip this one. If you are here to feed your curiosity, don't let my review stop you; especially if you're here for the story plot. Give it a chance or decide not to. This review is only a consideration.
Another masterpiece of literature by America's premier writer Elaine Waldron. I do not understand why her writing is not more widely recognized, and acclaimed as it should be. Elaine is the best female author I know of, and it is only a matter of time until at least one of her superb literary masterpieces obtains the recognition it deserves.
If you like really excellent writing, you will like this book. As a former book review editor, I recommend it very highly. Five stars of course.
This grabbed me from chapter one. Loved it so much i was wishing that i was at home reading it then being stuck at work for the day.
Amazing and intriguing book. Devil, love, sex and mortal-all together in one book. I highly recommend this excellent book. Enjoying!
